The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has instituted a new awards program to recognize outstanding performances by student-athletes throughout the league by honoring student-athletes each month. The leagues sports information directors nominate the student-athletes that are then selected by the league office. This months award winners for December 2009 are David Barden of Fort Lewis and Brecca Gaffney of Colorado Mines.

Three RMAC Womens Basketball Teams Selected to NCAA Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. For the second straight year and third time in four years, three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams have been selected to the NCAA regional tournament. The bracket, announced Sunday night on www.ncaa.com, will feature No. 4 ranked Fort Lewis College, seeded No. 2 in the tournament, fourth seed Nebraska-Kearney, and sixth seed CSU-Pueblo. Minnesota-State Mankato received the top seed and will play host to the 2009 NCAA Central Regional womens basketball tournament.

Top Seed Metro State Wins 2009 RMAC Mens Shootout Championship
The Metro State College Roadrunners won the 2009 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Shootout title behind Jesse Wagstaffs 22 points and six rebounds. Metro State, the top seed in this years tournament, defeated No. 3 seed Fort Lewis, 84-78 Saturday night at the Colorado State Fair Events Center.

CSU-Pueblo Makes NCAA Tournament Third Time in Four Years
CSU-Pueblo defeated Colorado Mines Saturday night at the Colorado State Fair Events Center to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA regional tournament for the third time in four years. The ThunderWolves, the fourth seed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, defeated third seed Colorado Mines, 62-42.

Kirk Archibeque and DeAndre Lansdowne combined for 57 of Fort Lewis 92 points to win the second semifinal mens game Saturday night at the Colorado State Fair Events Center. Fort Lewis, the No. 3 seed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Shootout tournament, improves to 24-8 on the season.

PUEBLO, Colo. Eleventh ranked Metro State advanced to the 2009 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Shootout championship game after they defeated CSU-Pueblo, 76-65, Friday evening. Metro State improves to 26-3 on the season while CSU-Pueblo closes their season at 15-14.

CSU-Pueblo Women Upset #4 Fort Lewis, 83-65
PUEBLO, Colo. CSU-Pueblo (21-8) posted their 11th win in school history in the RMAC Shootout tournament as they defeated Fort Lewis College (26-3) Friday afternoon at the Colorado State Fair Events Center, 83-65. The Skyhawks, ranked fourth in the latest ESPN/USA Today poll and second in the NCAA Central Region, was the top seed in the RMAC basketball tournament while the ThunderWolves are seeded fourth.

PUEBLO, Colo. Emily Dalton led Colorado Mines with 14 points and eight rebounds to help the Orediggers defeat Nebraska-Kearney, 63-56 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference semifinal game. Both teams are the 2008-09 RMAC East Divisional co-champions.

University of the Incarnate Word Wins 2009 RMAC Swimming & Diving Championships
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS February 21, 2009 University of the Incarnate Word won both the mens and womens 2009 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship titles at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas. This was the first RMAC Swimming & Diving championship meet since 1984. The three day meet was hosted by Incarnate Word.
