Paul & Wanda Brechler

The late Paul Brechler became the RMAC Commissioner in 1976 after a storied athletic director career at the University of Iowa, University of California and the Western Athletic Conference. Wanda served as the assistant commissioner of the RMAC until 1990, when she resumed the commissioner position after Paul resigned due to illness. During the Brechler's tenure, the RMAC went from two divisions (the Great Plains and Mountain) to one, 11-school conference. Under the Brechler's leadership, women's sports became recognized by the RMAC during the 1978-79 season.
