The Cactus Bowl began as the Snow Bowl in 1994 at the Fargo Dome
in Fargo, N.D. After its initial seven-year run, the game was moved
to Kingsville in 2001. The game was played in Kingsville for six
years, and after a hiatus last season, returned to Javelina Stadium
in 2008. Played in an East / West format, the Cactus Bowl teams
were comprised entirely of the 'best of the best' NCAA Division II
college seniors. The Cactus Bowl Committee was responsible for all
organizational aspects of the contest. Net profits from the Cactus
Bowl were donated to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Colorado School of Mines concluded the 2007 season with a 7-5
overall record and competed in the 2007 Dixie Rotary Bowl (one of
two sanctioned NCAA Division II bowl games) on December 1st in St.
George, Utah. The Orediggers went 6-2 in the RMAC this fall and
secured their sixth winning season in the past seven years.
