Erin Sharpe Named Mesa State College's Women's Soccer Coach

Grand Junction, CO - Erin Sharpe has been named Acting Head Women's Soccer Coach at Mesa State College, announced today by Athletic Director Jamie Hamilton. Sharpe will begin her tenure as head coach the first of the year.

Sharpe has ten years of coaching experience at various levels in the state of California, including most recently Head Coach of the San Juan Soccer Club Under 14 girls team, which is ranked #1 in the nation by gotsoccer.com.

Coach Sharpe is a former professional and college soccer player and was a member of the 2001 NCAA Division I National Championship team at Santa Clara University. She played collegiate soccer from 1999-2002 at Santa Clara where her team was a four-time NCAA tournament participant. She played one year of professional soccer for FC Muri Damen in Switzerland.

The past two years she assisted with the Olympic Development Program CA-North State as a coach and evaluator. Her resume includes Head Coach for the San Juan Soccer Club U14-U16 team from 2004-2007. She was a coach/trainer for the FC Muri Damen, Women and Youth in 2003 and Head Goalkeeper Coach for the Los Gatos Cobras competitive soccer team from 2000-2002.

Coach Sharpe earned her Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in marketing from Santa Clara University. She currently holds numerous coaching licenses with the California Youth Soccer Association E/D License and USSF Referee License. She will be participating in the NSCAA National Diploma and USSF National D Course in 2008.

Mesa State is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Division II.
