2014 RMAC Softball Summit Award
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- The RMAC is recognizing Breeze Phillips of Chadron State as the 2014 Summit Award winner for softball.
The RMAC Summit Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals sites for each of the RMAC’s championships.
All GPAs are based on a straight grading scale to ensure consistency among institutions. Any tie is broken by the number of credits completed.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must be an active member of the team, traveling and competing at the championship.
Phillips is a sophomore from Evergreen, Colo., who is a spot starter and valuable relief pitcher for the Eagles. She has appeared in 14 games, starting three of them and has gone the distance in two of those three starts. She’s tossed 43 2/3 innings and has an ERA of 2.73. She’s 2-2 on the season and has had 16 strike outs. Also, Phillips was named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team. Phillips has a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in Sports/Recreation Management.
Phillips will be recognized prior to their first round game at the RMAC Softball Championships, Thursday, May 1. Eagles face UC-Colorado Springs at 10:45 a.m. at the CMU softball field on the campus of Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.
