COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In men’s soccer, schools had three final days of conference play before concluding the regular season. With the six-team field for the RMAC Tournament already solidified heading into the weekend, all that was left was for the teams to finalize seeding.
 
Colorado Mines added two more victories to their now 9-0-1 RMAC record after beating Colorado Christian and CSU-Pueblo. The Orediggers solidified their first-ever undefeated regular season when they beat the ThunderWolves 2-1 in overtime. Colorado Mines captured the RMAC regular season title and the right to host the RMAC Championship.
 
Colorado Mesa claimed the two seed and a bye into the semifinals of the RMAC Tournament after notching a 1-0 shutout over Regis on Sunday, the second straight shutout for the Mavericks.
 
UCCS grabbed two wins on the road defeating Adams State 3-0 and Fort Lewis 1-0. The Mountain Lions finish the regular season in a three-way tie for second with Colorado Mesa and MSU Denver. Tiebreakers made UCCS the third seed.
 
MSU Denver took on Fort Lewis in a 2-1 win over the Skyhawks. The Roadrunners traveled to Adams State where a late comeback brought them a 2-1 victory over the Grizzlies. MSU Denver finished 8-2 in RMAC play and 13-3-2 overall, claiming the fourth seed in the RMAC Tournament.
 
The top six teams competing in the RMAC Tournament are Colorado Mines, Colorado Mesa, UCCS, MSU Denver, Fort Lewis and CSU-Pueblo. Colorado Mines and Colorado Mesa will bypass the first round and take the field in the semifinals on Friday. The semifinals and finals will be hosted by Colorado Mines in Golden, Colo.
 
The RMAC Tournament kicks off Wednesday with quarterfinal action. Third-seeded UCCS will play host to sixth-seeded CSU-Pueblo, while the fourth-seeded MSU Denver hosts the fifth seed Fort Lewis.

RMAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Nikolaus Grotz - Colorado Mines, So.
Grafrath, Germany

Sophomore forward Nikolaus Grotz helped ColoradoSchool of Mines men’s soccer close out its first ever undefeated season with a pair of goals and an assist in wins over Colorado Christian and CSU-Pueblo. The German native started out the week with his first goal in a month when he clanged in a 30-yard free kick off the crossbar and in during the 54’ at CCU. Grotz then capped his regular season with an assist and the game winning goal in the 2-1 win at Pueblo. He got Mines off to a great start at CSUP when he flicked a pass into the box that Jared Herselman was able to put away in the 23’. After the Thunderwolves equalized the game, Grotz earned a PK in overtime that he put away for the game-winner.

RMAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
James McGhee - Colorado Mesa, Fr.
Gilbert, Ariz.

McGhee helped the Maverick defense to a pair of shutouts last weekend. He limited opposing teams to just eight total shots on the weekend.

RMAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
David Meyer - UCCS, So.
Colorado Springs, Colo.

Earned the shutout in a 1-0 victory at #24 Fort Lewis on Sunday with eight saves and shared the shutout in a 3-0 win against Adams State on Friday. Meyer was taken out with 5:23 to play against the Grizzlies after making three saves. He hasn’t allowed a goal in his last three games and moved alone into fourth in UCCS career records with his eighth shutout (third of the season).
