2016 RMAC Football All-Conference Release

All-Conference Teams

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Colorado Mines’ quarterback Justin Dvorak, Black Hills State’s safety Drew Hebel and Colorado Mesa’s kicker Ryan Sheehan honored as Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Players of the Year.

The RMAC First and Second Teams were announced on Tuesday along with the six major football awards.

All major awards and All-RMAC First and Second Teams were voted on by the 11 head coaches of the conference. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. All athletes who received at least one First Team vote or two Second Team votes earned Honorable Mention.

Dvorak was named Offensive Player of the Year after averaging 390.5 yards of total offense a game. He leads NCAA Division II in passing yards with 4012 and passing touchdowns with 48. Dvorak broke the RMAC record for touchdowns in a season as well as in a career with 129 passing touchdowns.

Hebel takes home the Defensive Player of the Year award after leading Black Hills State’s defense. The redshirt-sophomore safety led the conference in passes defended with 17 and made a conference-high nine interceptions this season. His nine interceptions lead NCAA Division II this year.

Sheehan was named the Special Teams Player of the Year following his 22 made field goals this season, tying a conference record. He was a perfect 51 for 51 on PATs during the regular season and was responsible for the third most points in the RMAC this season with 117.

Dixie State’s running back Clifford Simms was named Offensive Freshman of the Year. Simms totaled 823 yards on the ground on 155 touches, averaging 5.3 yards per carry.

Dixie State’s Jaylen Moore was awarded Defensive Freshman of the Year. Moore had eight pass break-ups this season and added an interception.

Black Hills State Head Coach John Reiners was named RMAC Coach of the Year. Reiners led the Yellow Jackets to a 7-4 record this season after going 0-11 in 2015.
