COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams finished Week 4 with Colorado Mesa, Adams State and Western State facing its first conference dual meets of the season.

Men’s Swimming & Diving

In Week 3, Colorado Mines competed in a dual meet with the Air Force Academy on Saturday, Oct. 22, falling 153-108. CSM’s Brennan Mays placed first in the 1,000-free with a time of 10:09.37 andsecond in the 500-free in 4:54.86. Teammates Cort Hanson, Sam Knott and Jonathon Donehower also picked up second place finishes in the 100-backstroke, 100-breast and 200-IM respectively. Josh Schectner added two more second place finishes for the Orediggers in the 50-free and 100 fly events.

Oklahoma Baptist competed in the Hendrix Classic this weekend, taking a first-place finish. The Bison won all but two events at the classic. Nicolas Brun finished first in the 200-back, breaking a pool record in the process with a time of 1:52.67. Alex Mundt won the 200-IM with a time of 1:55.51 and the 500-free in 4:47.81 as teammate Felipe Ramirez took the 200-butterfly in 1:53.47. Josip Miskovic won the 200-breast with a time of 3:36.78. Chad Brandon took wins in the 50-free and 100-free with times of 21.18 and 46.26 respectively. Kristijan Stunkovic won the 200 free in 1:44.66 as both the 400-medley and 400-free Bison relay teams won in 3:29.61 and 3:07.48.

OBU’s Zak Rowton finished first on the one-meter board for the Bison with a 331 score. Rowton was half a point behind the first-place finisher on the three-meter board, taking second with a score of 326.85.

Colorado Mesa men’s diving team competed in the Clarion University Diving Invite this past week. The Mavericks came away with three NCAA qualifying scores as Noach Macomber won the three-meter board competition with a score of 304.58 on Saturday and Sage D’Ambrosia was close behind with a score of 304.20. D’Ambrosia also claimed a win on the three-meter board on Friday with a qualifying score of 301.43. Macomber picked up wins on the one-meter board Friday with a score of 269.33 and on the three-meter board Sunday with a 267.95 score.

CBU competed in a dual meet with Division I CSU-Bakersfield this week, falling 156-138. Alexis Ohmar won four events for the Lancers, in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle events with times of 47.08, 1:42.56 and 4:42.45. Ohmar also was part of the Lancers 400-free relay team that won with a time of 3:07.29. Scott Tolman added three individual wins in the 100 and 200-breast with times of 56.04 and 2:03.70 respectively, and in the 200-IM in 1:55.24. Robert Griffith took another individual win for the Lancers in the 1000-free with a 9:45.27 time.

Zach Parry and Andrew Rotundo placed second and third respectively on both the one-meter and three-meter boards. Parry finished with 279.75 points on the three-meter board compared to Rotundo’s 259.43 score. Parry edged out his teammate on the one-meter board as well with a score of 257.93 as Rotundo finished with a 222.75 score.

Women’s Swimming & Diving

Colorado Mesa traveled to Alamosa, Colorado for a dual meet with Adams State this past week before competing in another dual meet with Western State. The diving team competed in the Clarion Diving Invite at Clarion University.

Against Adams State, the Mavericks won all 11 events on their way to a 142-50 win. The 200-medley relay team set the pool-record time in the first win of the day in 1:50.44. The 200-free relay team also set a pool record with a 1:41.03 in their win. Kat Gerstmar won the 1000-free with a time of 11:28.68. Miranda Reetz won in both the 400-IM and 100-back with times of 4:56.34 and 1:08.88. Eryn Leonard set a pool record in the 100-fly with a time of 59.59 and teammate Marissa Bradley set the pool record in the 100-free with a time of 54.14. Abi Young claimed another individual win for the Mavericks in the 500-free with a time of 5:27.49.

In the dual meet with Western State, the Mavericks claimed a 191-97 win. The 400-medley relay team won the opening event with a time of 4:00.16 as the 400-free relay team also won in a pool-record time of 3:39.98. Mary Saiz won in the 100 and 200-back with times of 57.45 and 2:06.45 before taking the 50-free in a pool-record time of 24.19. Sam White won in both the 100 and 200-breast with times of 1:07.75 and 2:29.21. Eryn Leonard won the 200-fly in 2:15.52 as teammate Hanna Sangfelt won the 200-IM in a time of 2:18.45. Bradley won in the 100-free event with a time of 54.23 and Young won in the 500-free with a time of 5:31.04

Cassi Blakeman won the three-meter board competition on Sunday at the Clarion Diving Invite with a score of 242.45. She took second on both Friday and Saturday on the three-meter board with scores of 213.38 and 248.93.

Oklahoma Baptist competed in the Hendrix Classic this past week, putting up 727 points on its way to a win. The Bison 400-medley relay team and 400-free relay team both came away with wins at the classic. Victoria Fonville won the 50 and 100-free events in 24.37 and 53.67 times. Suzanne Afchain took the 200-free in 1:59.13 as teammate Victoria Peskova won the 500 and 1000-free in 5:23.83 and 11:07.48 respectively. Afchain added another individual win in the 200-back in 2:05.50 as Miriam Avila took the 200-butterfly in 2:13.32. Avila Martinez took the 200-IM and 200-breast competitions in 2:1390 and 2:25.59.

Anna White won on the three-meter board for the Bison with a score of 177.50. White took second on the one-meter board with a score of 163.20.

CBU competed in a dual meet with CSU-Bakersfield this week, falling 176.5-123.5. Christie Halverson won in both the 500 and 1000-free events with times of 5:02.78 and 10:29.74. Halverson also helped the 400-free relay team to a win with a time of 3:36.33. Mackenzie Mergel took second in the 200 and 500-free with times of 1:54.83 and 5:06.72. Alena Rumiantceva took first in the 200-breast with a time of 2:21.80 and second in the 100-breast, finishing in 1:06.44. Andrea Laliena and Kylie Mihld finished first and second respectively in the 100-back finishing in 59.58 and 1:00.18.

Lauren Skinner took second on the three-meter board for the Lancers with a score of 241.65. Bre Schlenger finished second on the one-meter board with a score of 251.70 as Skinner took third with a 251.70.
