#RMACwrestle Weekly Release: Week 4

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference wrestling teams traveled to the Wisconsin Open Tournament, Cliff Keen Invitational and Bob Smith Open for Week 4 action.
 
Chadron State traveled to Golden, Colorado for its first RMAC dual meet of the season on November 27, winning 25-15.
 
Chance Helmick had the first win of the night for the Eagles at 174 pounds with a pin. Teammates Matthew Kindler won at 197 to and Cooper Cogdill won at 285 to tie the score at 15. The final three Chadron State wrestlers won their matches to give the Eagles a 25-15 advantage. Brandon Kile won at 125, Taylor Summers at 133 and Brock Thumm at 141 for the Eagles.
 
The Eagles traveled to Kenosha, Wisconsin for the Wisconsin Open Tournament hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside at Kenosa this past Saturday. Summers and Sean Glasgow both took first place at 133 and 149 respectively for Chadron State. Helmick took third place at 174 pounds going 3-1 on the day and teammate Josh Bird took fourth at 157 pounds. Five different Eagles finished in fifth at their respective weight classes.
 
CBU traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Cliff Keen Invitational this weekend. Nick Fiegener went 5-2 on the weekend at 184 pounds for a seventh-place finish amongst Division I competition. The Lancers took 27th at the invitational as a team.
 
San Francisco State took on Southern Oregon in a non-conference dual meet on Friday, winning 25-15.
 
The Gators’ Matt Gamble (125) Nathan Cervantez (133) and Joshua Weinberg (141) won the first three matches of the meet for a 13-0 lead. After falling at 149 and 157, Tyson Kuahine, Jesse Lyga and Mitchell Owens won at 165, 174 and 184 to give the Gators a 25-9 advantage.
 
Western, Adams State and New Mexico Highlands traveled to Hays, Kansas for the Bob Smith Open hosted by Fort Hays State.
 
Western had seven wrestlers qualify for quarterfinals or better at the Bob Smith Open. Brandon Supernaw led the Mountaineers by going to the title bout at 174 pounds, winning four matches before losing in sudden victory in the championship bout. Ronald Wardleigh took third place at 133 pounds, recording five falls in the open. Teammates Brendan Gonzalez and Travis Bradford faced each other in the third-place match at 165 pounds, as Bradford took the win with an 8-7 decision.
 
Adams State’s Martin Ramirez took third place at 141 pounds and was the only Grizzly to place at the Bob Smith Open. Ramirez won his first three matches before losing in the semifinal to the eventual champion.
 
New Mexico Highlands’ Cody Marquez finished fourth at 197 pounds at the Bob Smith Open. He went 4-2 making it to the semi-finals before losing to the eventual champion.
 
RMAC Wrestler of the Week
Nick Fiegener, CBU
Fiegener placed seventh at the Cliff Keen Invitational on Saturday becoming the third Lancer in as many years to do so at the prestigious event, as well as the only non-heavyweight. He went 5-2 on the week, with all five wins coming by at least seven points, including two major decisions, a technical fall and pin, with his only two losses coming against two top-15 ranked wrestlers in NCAA Division I.
