COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines earns the inaugural Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Cup competition for the 2016-17 academic year, announced on Thursday.

The RMAC SAAC Cup is presented to the institutional SAAC that accrues the most points over four different initiatives - average number of community service hours per student-athlete during the academic year, amount of canned food raised during the month of November (2016), number of “Don’t Text and Drive” pledges collected at a double-header conference basketball game in February (2017), and total funds raised to support local causes and charities during the academic year (2016-17).

This year, the Orediggers took first with 4,600 points. Throughout the 2016-17 academic year, they raised over $5,500 and had over 3,000 canned goods donated.

The Orediggers SAAC will be honored on Friday during halftime of the RMAC Men’s Soccer Tournament semifinals match-up against the Orediggers and Roadrunners.
