Colorado Mesa’s Kenya Meyer and Ada Qunell Earn CSC First Team Academic All-America® Honors

The Maverick duo represent the RMAC as First Team representatives

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference was represented on the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Women’s Swimming & Diving Academic All-America® rosters, announced Tuesday, with Colorado Mesa University’s Kenya Meyer and Ada Qunell earning first-team roster spots.
 
The Maverick duo was one of just two Division II schools (Nova Southeastern) to have two first-team picks.
 
Meyer, a senior from Bozeman, Montana, earned a spot on the 2026 Academic All-America® roster with a 3.87 grade-point average in exercise science. She delivered an outstanding season, finishing as the national runner-up on the 1-meter board and placing fourth on the 3-meter after successfully defending her RMAC titles in both events. In the classroom and the pool, she excelled, earning RMAC Academic Athlete of the Year honors in 2024-25 and being named RMAC Diver of the Year in each of the past two seasons.
 
Qunell, who boasts a 3.88 GPA in chemistry, has now earned recognition in three consecutive seasons after being named to the second team in both 2023-24 and 2024-25. During the 2025-26 season, Qunell claimed five RMAC titles and earned five All-America honors. She was also named the RMAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Academic Athlete of the Year.
 
Academic All-American is reserved for college student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and the classroom. The all-time list of 42,000+ Academic All-Americans includes major sports stars and some of the world’s most accomplished individuals in medicine, business, science, and the arts. Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), Academic All-America is the longest-running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian institutions.
 
Teams are announced year-round and amplified by CSC member colleges, universities, and conferences on a local, regional, national, and even international scale. Nominating and voting for Academic All-America® is an exclusive right of College Sports Communicators members.
 
CSC began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952 and, since then, has honored more than 42,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
 
Currently, CSC sponsors Academic All-America® programs for men's and women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, baseball, softball, and men's and women's track and field/cross country. All other championship sports are eligible through the At-Large program.
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
