Fort Lewis Wins Men's RMAC SHOOTOUT
Championship
Pueblo, Colo. -- March 8, 2008 -- Despite a
game high 22 point, 12 rebound performance from Colorado
Christian's Brian Stamer and a late rally by the Cougars, the Fort
Lewis Skyhawks were able to hold off CCU to win the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference SHOOTOUT championship title.
The Skyhawks led 40-22 at the half but the Cougars made a late
charge to bring the game to within six points as time ran out and
the Skyhawks were crowned the 2008 tournament champions.
Ryan Johnson paced the Skyhawks with 17 points and four
assists. He was followed by 16 points by Ryan Jameson and
Trent Bowman came off the bench to net 14 points. The
SHOOTOUT MVP, Tim Crowell, added 11 points, four assists and three
rebounds. Devon Manning notched 11 points and eight caroms.
Offensive leaders for the Cougars were Rory Morgan (14 points),
Tyler House (11 points) and Jordan Long (10 points).
The Skyhawks made 28 of 66 field goals (.424) and 15 of 19 free
throws (.789). CCU netted 23 of 57 field goals (.404) and 17
of 23 free throws (.739).
