Fort Lewis, Metro State Selected to NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Nov. 7, 2011 – The NCAA announced its Division II Men's Soccer 32-team championship field tonight. Two-time national champion Fort Lewis College (19-1-0) will host the first round of the Central Region tournament as the top seed at Dirks Field, and will face second seed Metro State (14-6-1) on Thursday, Nov. 10. The Roadrunners are making their fifth tournament appearance in school history.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams this year, with Fort Lewis holding a 2-1 edge. The Skyhawks defeated Metro State on the road on Oct. 7, 1-0, before the Roadrunners posted a 1-0 victory at Fort Lewis two weeks later. On Sunday, Nov. 6, Fort Lewis defeated Metro State, 2-1, to claim the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament title.
Fort Lewis is the only school in NCAA Division II to host both women's and men's soccer playoff games.
The winner between Fort Lewis and Metro State will face the winner between Incarnate Word and Midwestern State on Sunday, Nov. 13.
