
KEARNEY, Neb. -- February 28, 2009 -- Western State College won the 2009 RMAC/NCAA West Regional Wrestling tournament tonight in Kearney, Neb.
The Mountaineers were led by RMAC Wrestler of the Year Donovan McMahill, who defeated defending national champion Josh Majerus of Chadron State 8-4 in the finals of the 197-pound weight class.
This was Western State's first RMAC championship in wrestling since 1997, and the first conference title for RMAC Coach of the Year Miles Van Hee.
This also ended a 7-year run of RMAC championships by defending national champion Nebraska-Kearney.
