Utah, Football and Basketball Coach, 1925-1937 (football), 1925-1927 (basketball)
Known as the “Rockne of the Rockies”, Ike Armstrong spent 25 years as the University of Utah football coach. Throughout his career he posted a 141-55-17 (.702) record, winning 13 total conference championships. Seven of those conference titles were won when the team was a part of the RMAC. His 141 victories are still the most in school history. In the RMAC, Armstrong posted a 65-10-3 (.852) record. As basketball coach for two seasons, he coached the Utes to a 9-18 record. Armstrong went on to become the Director of Athletics at the University of Minnesota from 1950-1963. In 1957, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Armstrong passed away in 1983.
