Metropolitan State University of Denver (2002-2007)
In 2002, Sanchez was hired at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) as the head women’s soccer coach. While at the helm from 2002-07, Sanchez led the Roadrunners to six Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championship titles, three RMAC Tournament titles, and compiled a 76-1-3 RMAC record. His teams also qualified for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II (DII) Tournament all six years, won two NCAA DII Championship titles in 2004 and 2006, and claimed five Central Region Championships.
Sanchez was a six-time RMAC Coach of the Year with the Roadrunners. He was also named 2004 NCAA DII National Coach of the Year and was a four-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) (now United Soccer Coaches) Midwest Region Coach of the Year. During his tenure, he produced two NCAA DII Players of the Year and 17 NSCAA All-Americans. Sanchez had five NCAA record streaks, which included the longest unbeaten streak (59 games), longest home winning streak (61 games), longest home unbeaten streak (61 games), longest conference winning streak (57 games) and longest conference unbeaten streak (72 games).
Following his departure from MSU Denver, Sanchez coached at the University of Wyoming from 2007-11. In 2008, he was named to the RMAC Centennial Team as the RMAC All-Time Top Coach for women’s soccer. Sanchez is currently the head women’s soccer coach for the Buffs at the University of Colorado Boulder. In his 22 seasons coaching soccer, he has amassed an overall career record of 337-104-38.
