Lukawski’s career in the RMAC began as a sophomore during the 1990-91 women’s basketball season at Chadron State. During her four years with the Eagles, she became the program’s all-time leading scorer and broke 12 school records, five of which she still holds and two of which she shares. Lukawski totaled 1,869 points in 100 games during her career and helped Chadron State to a playoff berth and 18-9 record in 1992-93.

She is a three-time First-Team All-RMAC selection, and as a senior, she was the unanimous choice for the RMAC’s Outstanding Player. She was also an RMAC Scholar-Athlete as a junior and senior. Lukawski was named a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Scholar-Athlete for the 1991-92 season. In 1992-93, she was a Third-Team NCAA DII All-American, as selected by the American Women’s Sports Federation, making her the first Eagles’ women’s basketball player to earn All-American honors.

Lukawski graduated from Chadron State in 1993 with a 3.83 grade-point average and has taught and coached at Chicago-area schools for most of the time since then. She also played briefly for the Indiana Stars of the short-lived professional women’s basketball league known as the WBA.

In 2007, she was inducted into the East Chicago Sports Hall of Fame. The following year, Lukawski was elected to the RMAC’s 12-member All-Time Women’s Basketball Team and was inducted into Chadron State’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
