The seventh team after CSU Pueblo restored its football program became its first – and to date the only RMAC member – to win the NCAA Division II Football Championship with a 13-0 victory against Minnesota State-Mankato in the 2014 season. The ThunderWolves captured their fourth-straight RMAC title that season after posting an 8-1 league mark, with the lone loss coming in Week 6. But after that loss, CSU Pueblo won nine consecutive games, including three NCAA Division II Playoff games on their own home field. CSU Pueblo finished the season with a 14-1 record that included a win at Division I FCS No. 15 Sam Houston State. Eleven athletes earned All-American honors, 15 were All-Region selections, and 18 earned All-RMAC recognition. Defensive lineman Darius Allen was the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and won the Cliff Harris Award and Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year award. Head coach John Wristen earned his third straight RMAC Coach of the Year award and was the consensus NCAA Division II Coach of the Year.
