11-time NCAA All-American during 1998-2002
6-time Individual NCAA DII National Champion
NCAA DII National record holder in the 5K
2002 NCAA DII Cross Country Athlete of the Year
2004 NCAA DII Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year
2003-04 Honda Sports Award NCAA D-II Athlete of the Year
Represented the USA at the 2007, 2009 and 2011 IAAF World T&F Championships in Japan, Germany and Korea
First alternate on 2008 U.S. Olympic Team ( 4th at Olympic Trials
2009 Inducted into Adams State Hall of Fame
2011 NCAA DII Track and Field Hall of Fame Inductee
Academic Accomplishments:
2004 ASU grad with 3.44 GPA while double –majoring in Sociology and Spanish
Civic Activities:
Zoila is an advocate for youth in Alamosa, Colorado. Member of In The Arena a non profit organization in Boston that connects American youth and todays athletes to cultivate character and community. Zoila has become a mentor, tutor and motivational speaker. Over the years, she has reached over 20,000 from all over the USA and her native country, Mexico.
