Homer was a four-year starter at linebacker at Chadron State from 1995-99.  A second team All-RMAC selection as a freshman, Homer garnered first team All-RMAC accolades the following three years.  As a junior in 1997, Homer led the league in tackles and was tied for second the following year.  He is the all-time tackles leader at Chadron State, with 503 tackles.  In his four year career with the Eagles, Homer also recorded 16 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, seven interceptions, 15 pass breakups, and blocked nine kicks.  In his senior year, Homer was chosen to four different All-American first teams and was a top-12 finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy award, designated to the top football athlete in Division II.  Homer graduated from Chadron State with a degree in business management. He was named as the top defensive player in RMAC history at the Centennial celebration in 2009.
