Elva Martinez-Dryer is a 16-time All-American and a five-time
national champion while competing in cross country and track at Western State College. As a senior she was named the NCAA II Track & Field Athlete of the Year and did not lose a cross country
race her final two seasons. She was inducted into the
Colorado Sportswoman Hall of Fame in 1997 and the National Cross Country Hall of Fame in 2000. Also in 2000, she was a member of the U.S. Olympic team. On the track oval, she won four
straight RMAC 1500 meter outdoor championships and four consecutive RMAC indoor mile titles. She earned her
bachelor’s degree in businessadministration from Western
State in 1995. In 2004, Dryer once again made the U.S. Olympic team competing in the 10,000 meters, finishing 19th with a time of 32:18.16 in Athens. In 2009, Dryer was selected as the top women's cross country in RMAC history.
