CSU-Pueblo's Fox earns AFCA All-America
AFCA Release
WACO, Texas – CSU-Pueblo defensive end Morgan Fox landed on the American Football Coaches Association Division II All-America Team after the AFCA announced the awards on Thursday.
Fox, a senior from Fountain, Colo., was the runner-up for this year’s Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award. He was also the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year after enjoying a superb season in which he led the conference in sacks. In fact, his 17 sacks was more than double Colorado Mines’ Tommy Hoskins, who finished second in the league with eight sacks.
Those 17 sacks are good enough to rank second in the country. His 1.42 sacks per game is almost even with the nation’s leader, Matt Judon of Grand Valley State, who averages 1.43 sacks per contest.
Fox has already earned D2CCA Super Region 4 All-Region First Team honors.
The AFCA’s Division II?All-America Selection Committee is made up of three head coaches from each of the AFCA’s seven districts, one of whom serves as a district chairman, along with another head coach who serves as the chairman of the selection committee. The coaches in each district are responsible for ranking the top players in their respective districts prior to a conference call between the district chairmen and the committee chairman on which the team is chosen.
