PUEBLO, Colo. -- Western New Mexico University claimed RMAC Championships today in both women's and men's tennis, in today's RMAC Tournament finals hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo at Pueblo City Park Tennis Complex.
On the women's side, the No. 1-seeded Mustangs received a bye, and were able to defeat No. 5 Metropolitan State University of Denver 5-1 in a semifinal match before a thunderstorm suspended all play. In today's final, WNMU defeated No. 2 Colorado Mesa by a score of 5-2.
For the top-seeded WNMU men, a bye also placed them in the semifinal round, which was postponed from Friday evening until Saturday morning. In the morning match, the Mustangs rolled to a 5-0 win against No. 4 CSU-Pueblo. In the afternoon finals, they pulled out a 5-2 championship victory over No. 3 MSU Denver.
In the third-place matches, the CMU men won 5-4 against CSU-Pueblo, and the MSU Denver women took down CSU-Pueblo 5-2.
