Four individuals named champions at NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference student-athletes claimed national titles at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend.

Salcia Slack of New Mexico Highlands was the RMAC's lone woman to win a title, beating out her competitiors in the heptathlon for her second consecutive title. The senior was also named the High Point Scorer of the meet by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for scoring 30.25 points in seven events, leading all scorers regardless of gender.

On the men's side, Tabor Stevens and Oliver Aitchison of Adams State earned titles on the track. Aitchison won the 1500-Meter Run, while Stevens earned titles in the 5000-Meter Run and the 3000-Meter Steeplechase. 

Damarcus Simpson of Chadron State won the long jump competition, setting a personal best in the event. 

Adams State's men had the highest RMAC team finish, fifth place, while the New Mexico Highlands women placed third at the championships.
