2016 RMAC Cross Country Championships Preview

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The nation’s best men’s and women’s cross country programs are set to compete at the 2016 RMAC Championships on Saturday, October 22.
 
Black Hills State will be hosting the RMAC Cross Country Championships for the first time in school history. The event will take place at the Spearfish Canyon Country Club in Spearfish, South Dakota.
 
The men’s 8K race will begin at 10 a.m. and the women’s 6K wills start at 11 a.m.
 
All 15 RMAC member schools will compete for the 2016 title, including nine nationally ranked RMAC teams.
 
Adams State men’s and women’s squads were ranked No. 1 in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings, making this event one of the most competitive conference championships in all of NCAA Division II.

No. 6 Western State – Men
No. 8 CSU-Pueblo – Men
No. 13 Black Hills State – Men
 
No. 1 Adams State – Women
No. 4 Western State – Women
No. 11 UCCS – Women
No. 21 CSU-Pueblo – Women
 
Last year, Adams State claimed the conference title in both the men’s and women’s division. The individual winner on the men’s side was Colorado Mines’ Dan Mahoney, and for the women, was the Grizzlies’ own, Noel Prandoni.
 
On the men’s side, the Grizzlies will look to defend their conference title for the third consecutive year. However, right on their heels will be RMAC preseason favorite and reigning NCAA Division II National Champions, Colorado Mines.
 
For the women, the Grizzlies have won the past four RMAC Championships and will be looking for their fifth consecutive win.
