2016 RMAC Men's Soccer All-RMAC Team Announced On Tuesday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s Roy Abergil was named 2016 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Year announced on Tuesday with the All-Conference teams.
 
Abergil was one of four players to pick up a major award. UCCS’ Derek Saunier was named Defensive Player of the Year and his teammate David Meyer earned Goalkeeper of the Year. Colorado Mines’ Trevor Amann was voted Freshman of the Year and this year’s Coach of the Year is Colorado Mesa’s Head Coach Todd Padgett.
 
The major awards, along with the All-RMAC First and Second Teams were voted on by the conference’s 11 head coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
 
There were four forwards, four midfielders, four defenders, and one goalkeeper on the All-RMAC First and Second Teams. All players who received at least two Second-Team votes or one First-Team vote were automatically included in Honorable Mention.
 
Abergil helped lead the Mavericks to the 2016 RMAC Regular-Season title with a 12-0-2 RMAC record and 13-1-4 overall. To conclude the regular-season, the red-shirt senior sits atop the conference in shots with 75, shots per game average of 4.17, points per game (2.61) and total points with 47 on the season. Abergil has the most goals scored in the conference with 23 and an average of 1.28 goals per game.
