Colorado Mesa's Roy Abergil Named D2CCA South Central Region Player Of The Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Colorado Mesa’s Roy Abergil named NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association South Central Region Player of the Year.
Abergil was the RMAC Player of the Year and helped lead the Mavericks to conference regular season and tournament titles. The Beercheeva, Israel native scored 23 goals this season and led the conference with 47 points.
Fellow Mavericks Slater Elkind and Moshe Perez joined Abergil on the South Central Region First Team. Elkind was a key part of the Colorado Mesa back line that held opponents to 14 goals in 21 games this season. Perez led the RMAC in assists this season with 10, adding three goals for a total of 16 points.
Colorado Mines placed three players on the regional second team. The RMAC Freshman of the Year Trevor Amann was joined by sophomore John Haist and junior Nikolaus Grotz. This is the second year in a row Haist has been named to the second team. Grotz was on the regional first team a season ago and makes his second appearance on the second team.
Regis’ Noah Chapleski landed on the South Central Region First Team. Chapleski dished out eight assists and added five goals this season. Regis forward Tom Grimley was selected to the second team following his eight goals this year.
Senior forward Josh Belfrage from MSU Denver was selected to the regional first team. The Highlands Ranch, Colorado native finished the season with 27 points on 12 goals and three assists.
UCCS senior Derek Saunier was named to the second team. Saunier was part of the Mountain Lions back line that held 11 clean sheets this season.
