Chadron State claims school's first RMAC Outdoor Track and Field women's title

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Chadron State won its first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday at Lyle Hare Stadium.
 
The Eagles blew away the field, posting 172 total points and besting second-place Black Hills State by 69 points. Adams State finished third with 101 points, while CSU-Pueblo (97) and Western State (96.5) rounded out the top five.
 
There was plenty the Eagles did right on the final day of the Championship. They notched at least one top-three finisher in nine events on the day, and won four events.
 
The Eagles took the 4x100 relay with a time of 46.80 seconds, besting New Mexico Highlands (46.97) and CSU-Pueblo (47.21). Chadron’s team consisted of Stachia Reuwsaat, Shelby Bozner, Kelsy Wood and Tiffany Thomas.
 
The Eagles also won the 100-meter hurdles – actually, they claimed the top two spots. Bozner took the title with a time of 14.05 seconds. Wood finished second with a time of 14.16. Colorado Mesa’s Mekayla Winchester finished third (14.29).
 
Reuwsaat claimed the 100-meter dash title, turning in an NCAA-Division II provincial qualifying time of 11.65 seconds. New Mexico Highlands’ Shanice McPherson finished second (11.87) and Adams State’s Jessica Scherrer (12.08) finished third.
 
Thomas won the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 24.71 seconds. Colorado Mines’ Lizzie Gabel (24.79) finished second, while McPherson (24.88) finished third.
 
Black Hills State’s Madison McLaughlin won the shot put with an NCAA Division II provincial mark of 15.68. McLaughlin’s teammate Avery Allen took second (14.00), while Western State’s Lovina Akauloa (13.77) claimed third.
 
Colorado Mesa’s Bacall Sterling won the triple jump with a mark of 12.00 meters, an NCAA Division II provincial qualifier. MSU Denver’s Sarah Hughes (11.85) finished second, while Chadron State’s Kenzie May (11.51) finished third.
 
Black Hills State’s McKayla Haugenberg won the javelin throw with a mark of 40.91 – an NCAA Division II provincial mark. Black Hills State’s Alexandra Richards (40.50) took second, while Bozner (37.32) took third.
 
Western State’s Georgia Porter won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:29.03. UCCS’ Chantelle Fondren took second (4:36.23), while Adams State’s Kelsey Corbin (4:38.63) took third.
 
CSU-Pueblo’s Alyssa Evans won the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.96 – an NCAA Division II provincial mark. Chadron State’s Thomas (55.00) took second, while Colorado Mines’ Lizzie Gabel (56.13) took third.
 
Adams State’s Chante Roberts won the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:12.15. Fort Lewis’ Skylyn Webb (2:12.18) took second, while Adams State’s Leanne Allen (2:13.95) took third.
 
Adams State’s Jessica Scherrer won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.75. Western State’s Katie Weber (1:00.70) and Chadron State’s Bozner (1:00.75) took second and third, respectively.
 
Western State’s Porter won the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:22.52. CSU-Pueblo’s Bailey Hughes (17:49.52) finished second, while Colorado Mines’ Elizabeth Starbuck (17:50.89) finished third.
 
CSU-Pueblo wrapped up the meet by winning the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:46.73. The ThunderWolves’ team consisted of Tiana Reed, Annica Roberts, Andrea Tuck and Alyssa Evans. Adams State (3:47.05) finished second and Chadron State (3:47.81) finished third.
