COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Indoor Track and Field teams were back in action for Week 2.
Western hosted its 3
rd Annual Shootout on Saturday in Gunnison, Colorado. The Mountaineers won a combined 25-of-28 events against MSU Denver.
On the women’s side Western’s Alicja Konieczek set a new Fieldhouse record winning the women’s mile in 5:03.89. Teammate Georgia Porter won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:14.76.
Other first-place victories came from Josie Harris (WT), Emily English (HJ), Khayla Doublin (LJ), Nocona Swindell (PV), Lovina Akauola (SP), Niki Hunt (60mH), Alexei Cox (60m, 200m), Tianna Terrell (400m), Cydney Branch (800m), Georgia Porter (3,000m), and the 4x400m Relay team (Whitehead, Holland, Penny, Branch).
For the men, Dawid Konieczek took first in the men’s mile with a time of 4:25.22. Pole vaulter Noah Zorsky jumped 16-7.25 to win the event.
Others claiming wins for the Mountaineers include CJ Schutt (WT, SP), Avery Roberts (HJ), Robert Carlson (LJ), Cameron Gill (TJ), Alex Schaffer (60mH, 400m), Elijah Gilbert (60m), David Moenning (800m), Preston Cates (3,000m), and the 4x400m relay team (Schaffer, Moenning, Cooper, Lewis).
MSU Denver men’s team was led by Julian Dulaney. Dulaney finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.19 and second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.04. Teammate Robert Carlson won the men’s long jump with a jump of 7.11-meters.
For the women, Sarah Hughes won the women’s triple jump with a mark of 11.02-meters.
Black Hills State hosted the Myrle Hanson Memorial Open in Spearfish, South Dakota. Chadron State and South Dakota Mines also competed at the meet.
Kaitlyn Hadley led the Yellow Jackets with two victories. Hadley took first in the women’s long jump (16-11.25) and triple jump (35-7.25). Teammates Cailey Roth and Christine Thom also saw victories.
On the men’s side Seth Kovar took first in the 60-meter hurdle race for the Yellow Jackets. The freshman broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles as he crossed the finish line in 8.5-seconds.
Chadron State’s throwers Mel Herl led the women’s team with victories in weight throw and shot put. Herl throw 70-feet, 1-inch in weight and 47-0.25 in shot put.
On the men’s side, the Eagles’ Blake Jacobs won shot put (53-6.25) and Jesse Bleidt took the title in weight throw (55-3.5).
South Dakota Mines showed strong performances in Spearfish. Hardrocker’s Nathan Courtney won the men’s high jump with a provisional qualifying mark of 2.03-meters. Teammate Josh Thomas also led the Hardrockers with wins in the 60-meter and 200-meter dash. Thomas crossed the line in 6.84 in the 60-meter dash, setting a new school record. In the 200-meter dash he clocked a time of 22.19. Thomas leads the RMAC in the 60m and 200m, and is ranked top 20 in the nation in both events. The 4x400m relay team also took first in a time of 3:30.14
For the women, the 4x400-meter relay team claimed victory with a time of 4:19.66. Hardrocker’s Shannon Morse won the women’s high jump (1.57m).
Westminster competed at the Weber State Indoor Open on Friday and Saturday. On the men’s side, the Griffins’ Lasana Trawally won the men’s 55-meter dash and set a new school record with a time of 6.73-seconds.
For the women, Payton Schiff won the women’s 1-mile race in 5:14.93.
