UCCS Men's Golf Earn Back-to-Back RMAC Tournament Championship Titles

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men’s golf programs wrapped up a two-day RMAC tournament with UCCS taking home its second consecutive tournament title on Tuesday at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona.
UCCS will receive an automatic bid into the 2017 NCAA Division II West / South Central Region Championships May 8-10, at Brookside Country Club in Stockton, Calif.
The Mountain Lions won the title by three points, scoring an 861 (+9) off three rounds. They earned a low round score of 283 on Day 1. In a close race for the title, Colorado Christian finished second in the team standings with a score of 864 (+12). Colorado Mesa finished third with 865 (+13), CSU-Pueblo in fourth (866) and Fort Lewis (fifth-871), Colorado School of Mines (sixth-875), Regis (seventh-881), and South Dakota Mines (eighth-929) to round out the team standings. Westminster was not eligible for the team scoring due to its transition into the NCAA. The Griffins had five golfers competed individually at the RMAC tournament.
For the Mountain Lions, Colin Prater was the RMAC individual men’s champion with a total score of 205. Prater shot eight under par in the win. In the three-rounds he shot a 68, 69, and 68 to secure the victory.
Colorado Christian’s Chase Carlson took silver with a 209 (-4).
Regis’ Jordan McBrayer would finish third with a score of 211 (-2).
Hugh Taylor from Fort Lewis and Jack Ice of CSU-Pueblo tied for fourth with a score of 214 (+1).
