COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- No. 3 Lindenwood advances to the semifinals as No. 8 Regis falls in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Division II Women’s Championship.
No. 8 Regis fell in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on May 12 15-11 to Queens University (NC). Ali Vanek led the rangers in the loss with five points on four goals and an assist. Jada Bonner had six draw controls, five ground balls, four caused turnovers, two goals and an assist. Regis ends the season with a 17-3 overall record.
No. 3 Lindenwood took on Queens on May 13, taking an 11-5 victory over the Royals. Lindenwood was the No. 1 seed in the south region and received a bye to the second round. Rachel Benzing led the Lions with five points on two goals and three assists as Hannah Doughty finished with two goals and an assist.
The Lions will face the No. 2 seed Florida Southern in the semifinals on May 19 in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania at 3 p.m. EDT after the North Region final between Adelphi and Le Moyne. The championship game is set for May 21 at 2 p.m. EDT.
