Colorado Christian Wins The 2016-17 RMAC Sportsmanship Cup
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Christian University (CCU) captures its fifth Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Sportsmanship Cup award announced on Monday.
The Cougars finished second in last year’s Sportsmanship Cup standings. The last time the Cougars won the award was back in 2011-12. Prior to that, they won the award for three consecutive years in 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10.
“On behalf of Colorado Christian University, our athletes, coaches, and staff, we are honored to have been chosen as the 2016-2017 RMAC Sportsmanship Cup winner,” said Colorado Christian Athletic Director Brian Wall. “At CCU sportsmanship ideals are an integral part of our mission.”
The RMAC Sportsmanship Cup is designed to honor the institution which upholds the sportsmanship ideals held by the RMAC and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The RMAC strives to promote sportsmanship and ethical conduct in every aspect of intercollegiate athletics. Student-athletes, coaches, administrators, officials, and spectators should act with respect and dignity as to uphold the integrity of themselves, their institutions, the NCAA, and intercollegiate athletics as a whole.
Voting for the award is done by institutional Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) team representatives and coaches. Voters consider the conduct of the student-athletes and coaches only.
The overall score of each institution was then divided by the number of sports the school sponsors for the average.
Colorado Christian will be recognized for the 2016-17 RMAC Sportsmanship Cup on Friday, July 14 at the RMAC Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet at the Colorado Springs Marriott. For more information on the event,
