COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Mesa’s Kyle Leahy was named the 2018 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Baseball Summit Award Winner.
The Summit Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) participating at the finals site of the RMAC tournament.
All GPAs are based on a straight grading scale to ensure consistency among institutions. A tie is broken by total credit hours completed.
To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above who participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must also be an active member of the team, traveling and competing at the tournament.
Leahy, a junior pitcher from Boulder, Colorado, is majoring in Kinesiology with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He recently was named the RMAC Baseball Academic Player of the Year. On the field, Leahy finished the season with a 7-1 record, 4.44 ERA, and .276 OBP. Leahy fanned 78 batters over 77 innings pitched throughout the year to help lead the Mavericks to their seventh-straight regular season conference title and No. 1 seed in the RMAC Baseball Tournament.
Leahy will be recognized at the RMAC 2018 Baseball Tournament on Thursday in Grand Junction, Colorado.
