COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Week 6 of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Swim and Dive schedule consisted of many teams competing at the A3 Performance Invite in Grand Junction, Colorado as well as other meets spread out across the Midwest.
TEAM PERFORMANCES
Women:
A3 PERFORMANCE INVITE – Hosted by Colorado Mesa
Seven teams, including Adams State, Colorado Mesa, Colorado School of Mines, CSU-Pueblo, Dixie State and Western, competed at the A3 Performance Invite in the El Pomar Natatorium.
- The Maverick women, who claimed first place at the four-day event, scored 1,465 team points to double the second place total and set a new meet scoring record.
- The Mavericks posted numerous first place finishes as well as personal and meet bests.
- Dixie State
- The Trailblazers, who finished with 710 team points, totaled 231 points on the final day to surpass Colorado School of Mines as runners-up at the A3 Performance Invite.
- Dixie State claimed 13 NCAA cut times while breaking 12 school records.
- The Orediggers placed third at the A3 Performance Invite with 697 team points.
- Colorado School of Mines had the women’s swimmer of the meet in Mia Wood who broke a meet and program record in the 1,650-free.
- The Mountaineers finished fourth with 465 total team points.
- Western also set a new school record in the 1,650-free. The Mountaineers claimed one individual event final win.
- The ThunderWolves finished in fifth place with 259 team points. They broke their school record in the 400-free relay.
NEBRASKA-KEARNEY:
- In the non-scoring event, the Aqualopers broke many records including a 21-year school record in the 400 individual medley.
OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN:
- Oklahoma Christian earned a first-place finish at the Tiger Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
- The Eagles posted an NCAA DII qualifying time as well as three individual event wins.
OKLAHOMA BAPTIST:
- Oklahoma Baptist competed at the Missouri Invitational as well as the Delta State Diving Invitational.
- Against primarily DI opponents at the Missouri Invitational, the Bison women tallied six points for a 13th place finish.
MEN:
A3 PERFORMANCE INVITE – Hosted by Colorado Mesa
Adams State, Colorado Mesa and Colorado School of Mines all competed at the four-day event.
- The Mavericks won all 22 events at the meet, earning 1,604.25 points and a first-place finish.
- Colorado Mesa recorded multiple qualifying times at the meet
- The Orediggers placed second as a team with 973.5 points.
- Colorado School of Mines garnered program records set by Charles Burroughs.
OKLAHOMA BAPTIST:
- The Oklahoma Baptist men placed fourth at the Drury Invite before placing fifth at the Missouri Invitational against DI opponents.
OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN:
- The Eagles won the Tiger Invitational, placing first out of six teams. The also placed fifth at the Drury Invitational.
RMAC SWIMMERS AND DIVERS OF THE WEEK
- Mia Wood of Colorado School of Mines has been named this week’s RMAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week! Wood was named the Swimmer of the Meet at the A3 Performance Invitational going undefeated in a record-shattering meet. Wood started off with a meet record 10:11.78 to win the 1,000-free by 26 seconds, then smashed her program and meet records in the 500-free with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 4:51.11 - the fastest time NCAA Division II this season. Wood added wins in the 200-free (1:50.83) to reset her program record, and finished with meet and program records in the 1,650-free at 16:59.77.
- Jolynn Harris set her first four NCAA qualifying scores as a Maverick, won two events and broke the 6-dive school and meet record on the 1-meter board to be named the RMAC Women’s Diver of the Week. Harris set a score of 451.1 in the finals of the 1-meter dive and then set a meet and school record of 277.00 points on six dives in Saturday’s 1-meter diving exhibition event.
- Jackson Wuthrich of Colorado Mesa has been named this week’s RMAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week! Wuthrich had a break-out meet and was named as the A3 Performance Invitational Men's Swimmer of the Meet after winning three events and scoring a meet-high 73 points. He won the 200, 500 and 1,000 freestyle events on consecutive days.
- Colorado Mesa’s Noah Macomber has been named this week’s RMAC Men’s Diver of the Week! Macomber set NCAA qualifying scores in all four 11-dive opportunities, won an event and led all men's divers with 37 team points at the A3 Performance Invitational. He won the 3-meter dive with a total of 542.40 points and tallied 487.875 points in the 1-meter dive.
Individual Highlights:
- Colorado Mesa’s Lauren White had a phenomenal meet at the A3 Performance Invitational winning five events while placing second in two others while setting three new meet records, seven national qualifying and a pair of RMAC-leading times throughout the weekend. Individually, she won the 100-yard backstroke after setting a meet-record time of 55.13 records to lead the RMAC and rank third nationally with an altitude-adjusted mark of 55.03. She also ranks second nationally and atop the RMAC in the 200 back at 1:59.79 (altitude-adjusted). White also swam legs on four winning CMU relays, two of which set meet records. She opened the meet-record setting 800 free relay (7:39.56) with a NCAA provisional qualifying 200-yard leg of 1:53.39 (1:52.19-altitude adjusted) and stands 18th nationally with that time. Her opening-leg split of 52.06 (altitude-adjusted) in the 400 free relay was also a NCAA qualifier. She also swam a leg on CMU's meet-record setting 200 free relay team (1:34.44) and the anchor leg on the 400 medley relay team (3:47.35).
