COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Noah Ottum was named the 2018-19 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Summit Award winner on Thursday.

The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) on the championship team. Colorado School of Mines and Western Colorado University were officially named RMAC Co-Champions (6-1 RMAC record) after last night’s final conference dual.

All GPAs are based on a straight grading scale to ensure consistency among institutions. If there’s a tie, then it is broken by total credit hours completed.

To be eligible for consideration, the student-athletes must be a sophomore or above, who participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must also be an active member on the team.

Ottum, a redshirt sophomore has a 3.962 cumulative GPA, majoring in Engineering Physics. The 149-pound starter was named to the Preseason All-RMAC team at the beginning of the season. He finished the regular season with a 5-2 dual record against RMAC opponents. Last season, Ottum earned NWCA All-Academic and RMAC First Team All-Academic honors.
