COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the 2019 RMAC Softball All-Conference and Gold Glove teams on Tuesday.

Colorado Mesa University’s AnnMarie Torres was named the RMAC Player of the Year, while teammate Kimbri Herring was tabbed the RMAC Pitcher of the Year. Rebecca Gonzales of MSU Denver earned RMAC Freshman of the Year honors and Colorado School of Mines’ head coach, Leah Glasgow was voted RMAC Coach of the Year.

The major award winners, along with the All-RMAC and Gold Glove teams, were voted on by the conferences' 13 head coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own student-athletes. Student-athletes who received one First Team vote, or Second Team votes, were named Honorable Mention.

The Gold Glove Team was selected for the first time in RMAC softball history. The team consist of one pitcher, one catcher, one first baseman, one second baseman, one third baseman, one shortstop and three outfielders. The nominees were nominated by their coach and based on the season’s best fielding percentage and applicable fielding statistics only. To qualify for selection, a student-athlete shall have played in a minimum of 75-percent of the contests at the position.

Torres is a first baseman out of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, has had a tremendous 2019 regular-season campaign, leading the nation's 11th-ranked Mavericks to the program’s 12th RMAC regular-season crown. Individually, Torres leads the RMAC in batting average (.485) and RBIs (64).  She leads the RMAC for walks, having drawn 38 and she has reached safely in 34 consecutive games.  She also leads the RMAC with her .873 slugging percentage and is fourth in the conference for home runs with 13.

Herring is tied for second in the RMAC with 19 wins. In 28 appearances, she has started 24 of those games, while 13 have been complete games. She is seventh in the conference with 111 strikeouts. Last season she was the RMAC Tournament Most Valuable Player and was selected to the D2CCA Firs Team All-South Central Region team.

Gonzales started and played in all 53 games for the Roadrunners. The freshman has a .364 batting average with 19 doubles and 40 RBI. She also has converted on 10-of-12 stolen base attempts.

Head Coach Leah Glasgow led the Orediggers to a 24-13 RMAC record and 25-20 record overall so far this season. This is her second Coach of the Year award after winning it in 2017.
