COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Skylyn Webb of University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) has been named the 2019 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Woman of the Year.
 
This award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their college career in areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, community service and leadership.
 
Skylyn will also be nominated for the 29th annual National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Woman of the Year Award. Within the upcoming months, the selection committee will determine the finalists in each division, and the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year award winner will be announced on October 20.
 
In 2017, Skylyn completed her undergraduate degree, with a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) and earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in English Writing. Now in her final term of graduate school, she has maintained a 3.61 GPA and will graduate this Summer (2019) with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology.
 
During her time at UCCS, the Delta, Colorado native has made an everlasting impact as a scholar, an athlete and a leader within the community.
 
In athletics, Skylyn has become one of the best to emerge from the Mountain Lions’ program. She helped lead the team to two conference titles (Indoor 2018, Outdoor 2019), two conference runners-up performances (Outdoor 2018, Indoor 2019) and two NCAA Division II Top 20 team finishes (17th Outdoor 2019, 8th Indoor 2019). Individually, Skylyn is a three-time 800m national champion (2018 Outdoor, 2019 Indoor, 2018 Outdoor), a four-time First Team All-American, six-time RMAC Champion and a four-time RMAC Track Athlete of the Year award recipient. In addition to those accolades, she has been named the RMAC Track Athlete of the Week six times and earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week twice. She was also a 2018 USA Track and Field (USATF) Outdoor Championships semifinal qualifier in the 800m run.
 
Academically, Skylyn has earned several awards including being named the Most Outstanding Student in the MA Clinical Psychology program (2019) and in the Psychology undergraduate program (2016). She also earned the 2019 Thomas F. McLaughlin Award, which is presented to the student-athlete who demonstrates the highest level of academic and athletic achievement and leadership. In 2016, Skylyn won the Willard O. Bowman Scholar Award, presented to the psychology student most likely to go on to contribute to the field of psychology. Skylyn is a two-time RMAC All-Academic Frist Team selection and a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.
 
In 2014, Skylyn volunteered at Shoes for Shiprock, collecting gently used athletic shoes to donate to the Shiprock reservation in New Mexico. A year later, she volunteered at Food for Thought where she helped package and deliver food to local school districts for children in need. Most recently, Skylyn dedicated 160 hours at SLV Global where she worked as a mental health intern in Sri Lanka, providing aid to hospitals and community centers.
