COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Senior Hailey Hinson of Colorado Mesa Univeristy has been named the 2020 Softball Academic Player of the Year. Hinson headlines the 91 honorees for the 2020 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) All-Academic team.
 
Hinson, along with the other First Team All-Academic members, were voted on by the conference's sports information directors. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.

Hinson has now been named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team on three occasions. She carries an impressive 4.00 GPA while majoring in Accounting. Additionally, she was honored on the 2019 Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-American Team and Academic All-District 6. Hinson earned NCAA Division II Fastpitch News National Player of the Week in 2018. She was a member of three RMAC Championship teams. She has started 91 of 145 games played in her career, putting togehter a .353 batting average in 252 at-bats. Hinson has recorded 74 Runs on 89 hits; 15 doubles, three triples and 10 homeruns. She has 55 RBIs and a .556 slugging percentage. In the circle she has retired 33 batters via strikes and a .990 fielding percentage.
