Mavericks Named RMAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Preseason Favorites

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa enters the 2021-22 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Women’s Swimming and Diving season as the favorite following preseason voting, the league announced Friday. The RMAC preseason poll is voted on by the league’s seven head coaches.
 
The Mavericks secure six first-place votes and 36 points to earn the preseason poll’s top spot ahead of the 2021-22 campaign. Colorado Mesa is coming off of its third-consecutive RMAC Championship last season, where the Mavericks scored 1,164.50 points. After becoming the first women’s team to notch over 1,000 points at the conference championship, the Mavericks concluded the 2020-21 campaign with a 12th-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Championships.
 
Colorado School of Mines checks in at second place with 31 points and one first-place vote. The Orediggers enter the season after a second-place finish at the 2021 RMAC Championships, where they scored 598 points. Jorie Selig and Meghan Slowey return for Mines after competing as individuals at the 2021 NCAA Championships.
 
Oklahoma Christian resides in third place with 24 points, followed closely by Western Colorado in fourth place with 23 points. Colorado State University Pueblo sits in fifth place with 16 points, while Nebraska-Kearney (9 points) and Adams State (8 points) round out preseason voting.
