CMU’s Michaela Dangler Named 2021 RMAC Women’s Soccer Academic Player of the Year

2021 RMAC Women’s Soccer All-Academic Full Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s Michaela Dangler is the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Women’s Soccer Academic Player of the Year, the league announced Monday. Dangler’s award was announced in conjunction with the 2021 RMAC First Team Academic All-Conference roster.
 
Dangler claims the honor as an elementary education major that holds a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA). The redshirt sophomore claimed a spot on the RMAC’s First Team All-Academic squad last season in addition to earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. She has started at the center back position in 10 of the Mavericks’ 11 matches this season. She is a staple of Colorado Mesa’s defense, which has registered a trio of shutouts and allowed 11 goals all season. The Mavericks have allowed 44 shots on goal throughout the 2021 campaign for an average of four shots on goal per game. Dangler has also recorded one goal and one assist this season.
 
Colorado School of Mines leads the first-team roster with three selections. Katie Koehler, Emma Peterson and Sierra Roth headline for the Orediggers. Koehler, a sophomore defender for Mines, holds a perfect 4.0 GPA as an electrical engineering major. Peterson is a senior mechanical engineering major that has registered a 3.67 GPA, while Roth, a goalkeeper, is currently in graduate school studying quantitative biosciences and engineering.
 
Colorado Mesa secures two spots on the first team in Dangler and Lila Dere. Metropolitan State University of Denver also accounts for two positions on the first-team roster with sophomore defender Katie Giordano and senior midfielder Annie Rolf. University of Colorado Colorado Springs nabs two spots with Ella Fischer and Tarah Patterson.
 
Regis junior Madison Hand and Westminster graduate student Aimee Kurfurst round out the first-team academic roster.
 
In addition to the announcement of the first-team roster, the RMAC Honorable Mention list was also released.
