Johannsen, Williams and Dwinell Claim Weekly RMAC Football Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – South Dakota Mines’ Jayden Johannsen, Colorado School of Mines’ Jaden Williams and Colorado State University Pueblo’s Justin Dwinell are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
Johannsen nabs Offensive Player of the Week honors after pushing the Hardrockers to a 45-42 win on the road over Adams State last weekend, where he threw for 277 yards and rushed for 120 yards. He rushed for three touchdowns and dished out two more scores through the air.
 
Williams secures Defensive Player of the Week honors after an impressive weekend, where he pushed the Orediggers to a 20-14 overtime win over a previously unbeaten Western Colorado program. The junior forced a pair of turnovers late in the game, a fourth-quarter fumble recovery and an overtime interception that secured the contest for Colorado School of Mines.
 
Dwinell claims Special Teams Player of the Week distinctions after a strong showing for the ThunderWolves in a 19-13 win at home against Colorado Mesa last weekend. The sophomore registered seven punts against CMU, where he combined for 374 yards  and racked up four punts over 50 yards.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Jayden Johannsen, South Dakota Mines – R-Fr. – QB – Sioux Falls, S.D.
Johannsen was key in the Hardrockers’ 45-42 win on the road against Adams State last weekend. The Sioux Falls, S.D., product was responsible for five touchdowns, threw for 277 yards and rushed for 120 yards in the offensive slugfest. He ran for a trio of touchdowns and threw two more, while completing 19 of his 32 attempts in the contest.
 
Defensive Player of the Week: Jaden Williams, Colorado School of Mines – Jr. – S – Fresno, Calif.
Williams forced two critical turnovers to ensure the overtime victory for the No. 5-ranked Orediggers against a previously unbeaten Western Colorado squad over the weekend. Williams recovered a goal-line fumble for Mines late in the fourth quarter to preserve a 14-14 stalemate and force an overtime period. He then showed up in overtime with an interception on the two-yard line that set up the go-ahead scoring drive for the Orediggers. Williams also registered five tackles and a pass breakup in the game.
 
Special Teams Player of the Week: Justin Dwinell, CSU Pueblo – So. – P – Colorado Springs, Colo.
Dwinell had his best performance of the season for the ThunderWolves last weekend, where he racked up seven punts for a total of 374 yards in a 19-13 victory for CSU Pueblo. The sophomore averaged 53.4 yards per punt in the contest and pinned the Mavericks inside their own 20-yard-line on four occasions. His longest punt of the game was a 64-yarder that placed CMU on its one-yard line. His 374 yards in the contest marks a season-best for the Colorado Springs, Colo., native.
