Regis’ Hooker and Pekovic, CMU’s Durant Named Men’s Soccer Players of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Regis’ Kristian Hooker and Danilo Pekovic and Colorado Mesa’s Connor Durant are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Hooker claims Offensive Player of the Week honors after pushing the Rangers to a pair of wins last week, where he notched four goals and one assist over the two-game stretch. The senior finished the week with nine points and claims his second weekly offensive honor of the season.
Pekovic secures his first Defensive Player of the Week accolade of the season after leading a Regis defense that limited its two opponents to a combined two goals. He was crucial to the Rangers’ defensive scheme and added in two assists in a 2-1 win at home against MSU Denver.
Durant claims his second Goalkeeper of the Week award this season after leading Colorado Mesa to 2-0 record last week, including a 1-0 win on the road against No. 19 Colorado State University Pueblo. The Mavericks’ keeper made nine saves on 23 shots faced for the week.
Offensive Player of the Week: Kristian Hooker, Regis – Sr. – F – Monument, Colo.
Hooker tallied four goals and one assist last week, securing a pair of wins for the Rangers. Against MSU Denver, Hooker netted the game-winning goal to push Regis to its conference-opening win. He followed up Friday with the first hat trick of his career, while adding in an assist in Regis’ 7-1 win over South Dakota Mines
Defensive Player of the Week: Danilo Pekovic, Regis – Gr. – M – Denver, Colo.
Pekovic combined for 180 minutes on the pitch for Regis last week, bolstering the Rangers’ defense and pushing his squad to a pair of victories. Regis allowed just two goals last week and started conference play with an unblemished record.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Connor Durant, Colorado Mesa – Sr. – GK – Westminster, Colo.
Durant logged 180 minutes for Colorado Mesa last week, bagging nine saves while pushing the Mavericks to a 2-0 start in conference play. The Westminster, Colo., native allowed just one goal in two appearances and faced 23 shots on the week. Durant opened the week with a season-high seven saves in a 1-0 win over a ranked CSU Pueblo squad. He then tacked on two more saves in a 3-1 win over UCCS. The senior has accrued five shutouts this season.
