Alisha Davis, Allie Navarette Claim RMAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo’s Alisha Davis and Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Allie Navarette are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Players of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Davis earns Offensive Player of the Week after pushing the ThunderWolves to a 1-1 record last week. The junior averaged 16.5 points per game and led CSU Pueblo to a 64-56 win over No. 1 Lubbock Christian. She shot an efficient 41.2-percent from the field in the opening week and recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds against the top-ranked LCU.
Navarette tipped off her season averaging 13.5 points and 10 rebounds to push the Roadrunners to a 1-1 record. The senior opened the season shooting 5-for-11 from the field in a 65-47 win over Angelo State Friday and followed up with 13 points and 14 rebounds in a narrow 86-83 triple-overtime loss to Texas Woman’s in Denton, Texas, on Saturday. She shot an efficient 45-percent from the field on the week and scored each of her nine field goals from two-point range.
Offensive Player of the Week: Alisha Davis, CSU Pueblo – Jr. – F – Aurora, Colo.
Davis jumped off the stat sheet for the ThunderWolves last weekend in a pair of matchups against top-10 opponents. The junior recorded back-to-back games in double-scoring figures and logged an 18-point, 12 rebound performance in Saturday’s win over top-ranked LCU. Davis’ debut for the ThunderWolves included a 41.2-percent field goal average.
Defensive Player of the Week: Allie Navarette, MSU Denver – Sr. – F – Torrence, Calif.
Navarette, the reigning RMAC Player of the Year, hit the hardwood in MSU Denver’s opening two games last week and led her team to a 1-1 record. In both games, she entered double-scoring figures and secured a double-double on the road against TWU. Navarette averaged 34 minutes per game and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line on opening weekend.
