Rylee Hladky Named 2021 RMAC Volleyball Summit Award Winner

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Rylee Hladky is the 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Volleyball Summit Award winner, the league announced Friday.
 
Hladky claims her latest honor after leading the Roadrunners to the semifinals of the 2021 RMAC Volleyball Tournament following a 3-0 opening-round win over No. 8-seed New Mexico Highlands on Tuesday. Against the Cowgirls, Hladky claimed seven kills and 16 digs for 12 points in the sweep. The sophomore has collected 341 kills this season for MSU Denver and averages 3.44 kills per set. She has earned RMAC Offensive Player of the Week three times throughout the 2021 campaign and has been instrumental in the Roadrunners’ rise to the nation’s No. 1 ranking. Hladky is averaging 4.16 points per set through 27 matches and leads MSU Denver with 46 service aces this season.
 
In addition to her efforts on the court, Hladky also successfully puts work into the classroom. As a sophomore, she owns a perfect. 4.0 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. The Summit Award is the fourth major award of the season for Hladky as the Gillette, Wyo., native was also named the RMAC Academic Player of the Year, RMAC Player of the Year and a first team all-conference selection earlier this season.
 
The RMAC Summit Award is presented to student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA that is also competing at the site of the finals for their respective sport’s championship. Summit Award winners must have competed in 20-percent of available competitions throughout the current season. All GPAs are based on a straight-grading scale to ensure consistency among nominees. All ties are broken by the total number of credit hours completed through the most recently concluded semester.
 
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above, who have participated in their sport at their institution for at least two years. Student-athletes must be active members of their teams, traveling and competing at the RMAC championship event. Graduate students are not eligible to win the award.
 
MSU Denver is set to host the final two rounds of the 2021 RMAC Volleyball tournament as the No. 1 seed. Hladky will be honored with her latest award ahead of the Roadrunners’ semifinal battle against fifth-seeded Colorado State University Pueblo Friday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m., inside Auraria Event Center.
