Mines’ David Hansburg Appointed to NCAA DII Management Council
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines Athletic Director David Hansburg has been named to the NCAA Division II Management Council. Hansburg’s position on the NCAA Division II Management Council will serve as a five-year appointment and will run through January of 2026.
Of the 28 members that comprise the management council, Hansburg stands as one of 10 athletic directors among the group. He is one of seven new appointees within the 2021-22 academic year and brings over 20 years of experience within the collegiate athletics field.
"I am honored to be chosen to represent the RMAC and Colorado School of Mines on the NCAA Division II Management Council," Hansburg said. "It is an exciting and potentially transformational time for the NCAA, and I am proud to represent Mines and the RMAC as I serve in this role."
Since becoming the athletic director at Colorado School of Mines in the 2013-14 academic year, Hansburg has led the Orediggers’ athletic department to one of its most successful periods in school history. Over the past eight years, Colorado School of Mines has won three RMAC All-Sport Cups (2016, 2017 and 2018) and has compiled 23 RMAC titles.
The NCAA Division II Management Council reports directly to the Presidents’ Council and is charged with recommending administrative policy and regulations that govern the division. The Management Council also reviews and acts on recommendations from the Division II committee structure and from Division II representatives to committees with NCAA-wide functions. The council is also responsible for appointing Division II representatives to those committees.
