COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Duncan Fuehne and Zoe Baker are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Academic Runners of the Year, respectively, the league announced Thursday. In addition to the individual honors, the RMAC also announced the 2021 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country First Team Academic All-Conference rosters. The RMAC Academic All-Conference teams are voted on by sports information directors from the league’s 15 institutions.

Fuehne is the Men’s Cross Country Academic Runner of the Year after claiming an 11th-place finish at the 2021 RMAC Cross Country Championship earlier this season. He crossed the finish line with a time of 25:19.6 in the 8k race, earning first team all-conference distinctions and pushing the Orediggers to their third-consecutive conference title in the process. Fuehne has secured a 3.97 grade-point average (GPA) as an engineering physics major at Colorado School of Mines.

Baker locks up her second-consecutive RMAC Women’s Cross Country Academic Runner of the Year honor for the Orediggers after earning first team all-conference honors at the 2021 RMAC Championship earlier this month. She registered a fourth-place individual finish at the conference meet, crossing the finish line with a time of 21:56.2 in the 6k race. Baker, a senior, holds a perfect 4.0 GPA for the Orediggers as a computer science major.

There were two 4.0 GPAs among the men’s first team roster with CSU Pueblo’s Patrick Scoggins and Western Colorado’s Cade Michael. Among the women’s team, Mines’ Baker, Regis’ Mikaela Taylor, South Dakota Mines’ Margaret Thompson, UCCS’ Riley McGrath and Westminster’s Saydi Anderson each earned 4.0 GPAs.

Of the 14 honorees on the men’s first team, seven RMAC institutions are represented, while nine schools are represented on the women’s side.

In addition to the announcement of the first-team roster, the RMAC Honorable Mention list was also released.
