UCCS’ Kayla Zink, Hannah Meek Named RMAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Kayla Zink and Hannah Meek are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.
Zink earns Track Athlete of the Week honors after securing another provisional mark in the 60-meter dash for UCCS over the weekend inside Mountain Lion Fieldhouse at the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi. The Illiff, Colo., native crossed the finish line with a 7.46 in the preliminary round of the 60m event, earning a spot in the finals portion of the race and the nation’s second-fastest time this season. The following day, Zink competed in the finals and crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 7.56. She also competed in the 200m dash, where she registered a 24.59 for third-place distinctions.
Meek claims her second RMAC Field Athlete of the Week award of the season after a pair of podium finishes for UCCS over the weekend. Friday’s action concluded with Meek taking first place in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 6.37m (20-10.75 ft), a mark that stands first in NCAA Division II this season and sixth all-time in NCAA DII history. She then took second place in the triple jump with her second provisional mark of the year, a 12.30m (40-04.25 ft) jump that stands fourth in the nation for the 2021-22 campaign.

After setting a provisional mark in the 60m dash in week one, Zink improved upon that performance over the weekend at the CRC Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi. This time, she notched a converted time of 7.46 on day one of the meet, lifting her to the finals portion of the event and claiming the nation’s second-best time of the season. Day two of the meet saw Zink place third in the 60m dash with a converted time of 7.56. She then added a third-place finish in the 200m dash with a 24.59.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Hannah Meek, UCCS – Sr. – Pueblo, Colo.
Meek registered a historic performance for the Mountain Lions over the weekend, when she tabbed a first-place finish in the long jump and a second-place finish in the triple jump at the CRC Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi. In her final attempt in the long jump on Friday, the senior leaped to an indoor personal-best mark of 6.37m, which currently stands as the nation’s top mark of the season and the sixth-best mark in NCAA Division II history. Meek returned on Saturday for the triple jump, where she secured another provisional mark, this time hitting the pit with a jump of 12.30m for the silver medal. Meek’s triple jump performance currently ranks fourth in the nation this season. Meek’s latest award is her second award this week as the Pueblo, Colo., native was also named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
