COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado School of Mines Brendan Sullivan leads the 2020-21 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Men’s Basketball All-Conference teams as the RMAC Player of the Year. MSU Denver’s Laolu Oke earned Defensive Player of the year while Christopher Speller of Colorado Mesa was named Freshman of the year. Rounding out the major awards is Mike DeGeorge of Colorado Mesa as he was tabbed the Coach of the Year.

The major awards, along with All-RMAC First and Second Teams were voted on by the conference’s 15 head men’s basketball coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own student-athletes. Student-athletes who received one First Team vote or two Second Team votes were named Honorable Mention.

Sullivan was an all-around threat for Colorado School of Mines as he averaged 18.8 points while hauling in 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.0 block. Sullivan was also named the RMAC men’s basketball All-Academic Player of the Year. He shot an impressive .570 from the field and .379 from three as he ranks in the top 10 in the RMAC in four different categories.

Oke was a defensive stalwart all season as he was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week four different times. He ranks high in the NCAA DII in offensive rebounds with 5.4 while bringing down 12.2 total rebounds per game. He recorded seven double doubles while also averaging 1.8 steals and 11.3 points per game while shooting an impressive .676 percent from the field.

Speller stepped up big time on the defensive end as he stepped up and guarded the best players on the other teams. He finished the year shooting 55% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc.

Mike DeGeorge helped lead the Mavericks to their first RMAC Regular Season Title in 11 years. Colorado Mesa finished the year with 18 wins and one loss which they avenged later in the season.
