#RMACwbb All-Conference Team Announced
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Allie Navarette of MSU Denver leads the 2020-21 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as the RMAC Player of the Year. Whitney Jacob of Regis was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year while Kendra Parra of MSU Denver and Erin Fry of Regis were named Co-Freshman of the Year. Rounding out the Major Awards was Colorado School of Mines’ Brittany Simpson who earned Coach of the Year.
The major awards, along with All-RMAC First and Second Teams were voted on by the conference’s 15 head women’s basketball coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own student-athletes. Student-athletes who received one First Team vote or two Second Team votes were named Honorable Mention.
Navarette joined the program this year and made an immediate impact. She scored 21.2 points per game while bringing down 8.6 rebounds per game. She shot an impressive .508 shooting percentage from the field. She also chipped in with 1.5 assists and just under 1.0 steals per game.
Jacob’s has hauled in 11.2 rebounds per game to rank No. 15 in NCAA Division II. She swatted an average of 1.5 blocks per game while scoring 17 points per game. She recorded 11 total double doubles during the season.
Parra led all RMAC freshman in scoring and rebounding while ranking third in assists. She finished the year with 8.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists while playing in 15 games for the Roadrunners.
Fry posted 8.2 points per game while having a 1.2 assist/turnover ratio. She started every game for the Rangers (besides senior night) and was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the week after posting a 27 point, 10 rebound game.
Brittany Simpson helped lead Colorado School of Mines to its first Regular Season Title in six years and second overall in program history. The Orediggers finished the season with a 15-3 overall record and 14-3 in conference play.
