COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) women's lacrosse season continued into Week 2
this last week with more conference teams playing their first games of the year. 


Team Highlights

  • Regis moved to 3-0 on the season after downing both McKendree (17-8) and Wesminster (17-3) in two games last week. The Rangers took care of business on the road against McKendree by starting out the game with a three-goal deficit with the home team netting the first three goals of the game. That was met with a 6-0 run from RU, then the second half started off the same way, with another 6-0 run to capture the dub. Against Westminster, RU tallied off 17-straight goals before the visiting Griffins were able to get their first goal of the game.
  • CSU Pueblo kicked off their season with a 17-7 win over Maryville on Friday morning. The Thunderwolves jumped out to 8-4 lead five minutes into the second half, the Pack then rattled off four unanswered to lead 12-4 to ultimately lead to the win. Four different players scored in the back half of the second, as the Pack cruised to the ten-point victory.
  • UC-Colorado Springs also started their 2021 one season in winning fashion by downing Westminster College 20-11 in Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions took an 11-7 into halftime after forcing WC to commit 11 first half turnovers. Then in the second half, they went on a 6-0 in the first few minutes, then closed out the game by scoring the final three goals. 

Players of the Week
  • CSU Pueblo's Emily Eller is the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week after she totaled 10 goals and three assists for 13 points. 13 of her 14 shots were on goal and she had a .714 shooting percentage. The senior went 6-for-7 on her free position shots. Eller also brought in eight draw controls and five ground balls. Against Maryville, Eller scored five goals and dished out three assists for a career-high eight points. At McKendree, the senior scored five goals and went 4-for-4 on her free position shots.
  • Regis' Gabby Rothermund is the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week  ook it upon herself to prevent the Westminster Griffins transition from defensive to offense by causing four turnovers before the Griffins even made it out of their defensive zone. Additionally, she had four draw controls, two ground balls and added two goals and three assists for a remarkable overall performance in No. 12 Regis’ win over Westminster
     

Individual Highlights

  • UCCS' Angela Naughton led the Mountain Lions in the season opening win at home against Westminster College ... Naughton tallied five points behind three goals and two assists, including the game winning goal. She added 4 shots and picked up one ground ball.
  • Regis' Kyleigh Peoples had a very strong offensive performance with four goals and two assists, giving her six points. Peoples’ performance helped No. 12 Regis take down the Westminster Griffins on Saturday. She also added two draw controls, one ground ball and a caused turnover.
  • CSU Pueblo's goalie Ane Marie Horton went 1-1 to start the 2021 season. She totaled 22 saves and a .468 save percentage. The ThunderWolves won 17-7 at Maryville Friday and lost 18-11 at McKendree Sunday. In the win against Maryville, Horton reached a career milestone, as she made her 500th career save.
